Thank you for joining us as your child embarks on their literacy journey! Beginning at home, you play a key role in educating your child and helping them develop the skills necessary for success in reading.

But it's not as daunting as it may seem! Early literacy does not mean teaching babies to read. Rather, it is the natural development of skills through the enjoyment of books, positive interactions between babies and parents, and the importance of literacy-rich experiences (ALA).

How does the Word Collectors Club work?

  • Register Online Here – Parents you can create an account first to easily add your children's activity, or just create one account for your child.
  • Track Your Reading – Log every book you read with your child here! There is no time limit either, read at your own pace. If you prefer a physical log, stop by the youth reference desk.
  • All 100 books in The Word Collectors Club can be found on the green wall next to the new books in the youth department. The spines have yellow tape on them. Some titles may also be found through Libby, Hoopla, and Kanopy.
  • The Readsquared digital reading log is located under the "Reading Lists" tab. You can easily log your titles by navigating to the WCC list and clicking "Log This Book" once you find the title you've read.
  • Once you finish all 100  books on the list, visit the youth desk to celebrate! You will receive a certificate, a sticker, and a free book! You can even get your photo taken for our *Wall of Readers.*
